Three Pittsburgh Firefighters Suspended as Chief Remains on Leave

One of the Pittsburgh firefighters was working without a state EMT license, while the others are accused of domestic violence.

Three Pittsburgh firefighters have been suspended, including to facing criminal charges.

The sidelinings come weeks after Fire Chief Darryl Jones was placed on leave as city officials investigate operational decisions. From the onset, they said the action does not invove criminal wrongdoing.

One of the three suspended without pay had been working sans a state EMT license, while the other two are accused of domestic violence,  WPXI reported.

City firefighters hired after 2005 are required to be state-certified EMTs.

Mayor Corey O’Connor told a reporter: "...You know, that’s something that’s scary for a lot of people: if people don’t have certifications in certain areas, that’s scary.

IAFF Union President Ralpgh Sicuro said: “The union does not litigate personnel matters through the media, and we will allow the appropriate processes to take place."
