St. Louis Firefighter on Leave after Defecating in Box in Airport Storage Room
A St. Louis City firefighter, caught defecating in a box in a storage area at Lambert Airport, has been placed on leave.
A surveillance video captured the unidentified firefighter, who has been with the department since 1995, with his pants down and holding a box near his buttocks.
The June 10 incident occurred in an area operated by the airport's food and beverage vendor, according to KMOV.
The impact of the firefighter's deposit on the food services has not been released by airport authorities.
But, a spokesperson wrote in a statement that the incident is “unacceptable for anyone associated with this airport...We appreciate that the fire department removed the firefighter from his duties here.”
St. Louis Fire Department is responsible for fire protection at the airport.
One person familiar with the situation told reporters that this is out of character for someone who wears the uniform while another said this is disgusting and deserves disciplinary action.
Fire officials wrote in a statement: “The St. Louis Fire Department is aware of an incident involving one of its members at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. The member has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation..."
