Off-duty Staten Island firefighter Stephen Siller ran through the tunnel in his gear because it was the fastest way to get to the World Trade Center.
The event has raised more than $500,000 in the past two years .
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani told a large crowd at the firehouse next to the WTC site, "It's a wonderful testament of how much people appreciate what Stephen's family has done for everyone.
