Health Problems Continue among World Trade Center Workers

Cleanup and rescue workers who were at Ground Zero are still dealing with health problems. Nearly two full years after the attack, a medical screening program still shows a high rate of physical and mental problems among the people screened.Researchers say 48 percent still have ear, nose, and throat problems. Thirty percent have pulmonary problems like shortness of breath and wheezing.

Researchers say 48 percent still have ear, nose, and throat problems. Thirty percent have pulmonary problems like shortness of breath and wheezing.
Their latest report says 56 percent have psychological problems that warrant more counseling, and as many as 19 percent have been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.
Patients were screened between July of last year and April of this year.
