Ashaway, RI, Fire Department recently placed in service a 3,000-gallon pumper tanker the unit built on a Peterbilt 389 chassis.

Ashaway, RI, Fire Department recently placed in service a 3,000-gallon pumper tanker the unit built on a Peterbilt 389 chassis. It is powered by a Cummins ISX 15 600-hp diesel engine and an Allison 4000 transmission. The apparatus features a Hale Q-Max 1,500-gpm pump with master intake valves on both the right and left sides. It has rear twin direct tank filling ports with Firemans Friend valves. It also has  Akron electric valves to match up with previously purchased apparatus. The tank may be dumped through either side of the apparatus with air operated side mounted dump chutes that may be activated by the driver in the cab, additionally the the truck has a rear-mounted Newton dump chute and Whelen warning and scene lights. This unit was sold by Specialty Vehicles Inc of North Attleboro, MA.
