The truck is a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid. It serves as the Eagan Fire Marshals response vehicle and carries all of the department’s fire investigative tools. The truck replaced a 2001 Dodge Dakota that was averaging 12 MPG. The new hybrid is estimated to get 20 MPG in town and 22 on the highway. The vehicle was obtained from Apple Chevrolet of Northfield for a cost of $36,000 which was donated by Gopher Resources.
