AUG. 10: WEST MILFORD, NJ – More than 100 firefighters from three counties battled a general-alarm fire at an optics manufacturer. The blaze raged for five hours and was under investigation.
AUG. 16: SANTA ANA, CA – Thirteen people were displaced after a blaze blamed on an electrical malfunction caused approximately $65,000 in damage at a home. One person suffered injuries. Several large appliances were plugged into an extension cord and then into a multi-plug adapter not equipped with a circuit breaker.
AUG. 28: LAS VEGAS, NV – Damage was minimal after an automatic fire sprinkler stopped a fire from spreading after it was ignited by a welder’s torch at a storage facility.
SEPT. 4: FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – Crews responded to a school building fire. An electrical anomaly within a floor cleaning machine sparked fire in a kitchen storage room. Sprinklers activated, helping to contain the fire. Damage was estimated at $5,000.
SEPT. 8: SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA – Two semi trucks collided on I-15, with one fully involved in fire upon arrival. There were no injuries. While firefighters were engaged in fire attack, a second call came in reporting another traffic collision with injuries just south on I-15. Crews ceased suppression efforts and went to the second call, where medical transport via helicopter was required.
