Police officers on patrol notified Los Angeles firefighters to a commerical building fire at Barrios Casting Company, a metal casting business, on Oct. 24.

Units had fire and smoke showing from the 7,200-square-foot, one-story building at 1459 S. Lorena Street in the Boyle Heights district.

Firefighters forced entry through rolling steels doors and encountered heavy fire conditions.

Crews were ordered off the roof and out of the building as heavy fire engulfed the structure.

Using several handlines, a wagon battery and two ladder pipes, crews darkend down the flames.

Responders handled and restrained two friendly pit bull dogs that kept running between the apparatus and bumping into busy firefighters. The dogs may have been guard dogs.

Approximately 90 Firefighters battled the blaze.
