Apparatus - New Rescue Pumper Goes In Service With Pa. Dept.
The Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department, Company 25, in Houston, Pa., recently put a 2014 rescue pumper, built by Toyne on a Spartan cab and chassis. It replaced 1993 pumper, also on a Spartan cab and chassis.
The new rescue pumper is the second apparatus the department bought from Toyne, according to Jeff Simpson, president of the fire department. Simpson said the work onthe apparatus was outstanding and he looks forward to keeping a relationship with the company into the future.
It's built on a Spartan Metro Star cab and chassis powered by a Cummins engine and an Allison transmission. To fight fire, it has Hale 1,500-gpm pump and a 1,000-gallon UPF tank.
