The City University of New York Aviation Institute personally invite New York and New Jersey region Fire Fighters to attend a unique and riveting aviation theatrical experience, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO, a live performance documentary derived entirely from the "Cockpit Voice Recorder" transcripts of six major real-life airline emergencies. Allowing the audience into the tension-filled cockpits of actual flights in distress, the play is a fascinating portrait of Crew Resource Management (CRM), Safety Management Systems (SMS), the psychology of crisis and a testimony to the ability to live to the last second of life.

In 2000, the Wall Street Journal reported: “Air Force Lt. Col. Larry Shattuck made CVR required viewing for West Point cadets majoring in Engineering Psychology…[He] is among many aviation professionals who believe the play can save lives. At the Pentagon, Capt. Varljen's job is to oversee regulations pertaining to Crew Resource Management (CRM) training…he says, unlike Air Force taped re-enactments, Charlie Victor Romeo captures "the emotional element" which helps to show "how stressful the event can really become.

CVR was produced by “Collective Unconscious” on The Lower East Side in 1999. Since then the original production has played extensively Off-Broadway and internationally, winning 2 Drama Desk Awards, for Outstanding Unique Theatrical Experience and Outstanding Sound Design, and listed in 2004 as one of Time Magazine’s Best Plays of the Year.

York College and the CUNY Aviation Institute is proud to be the only other theatre company, professional or amateur, to be given the rights to produce this play in the United States.
