2013 World Rescue Challenge

The North American Vehicle Rescue Association in partnership with the City of Clearwater is proud to announce that the 2013 World Rescue Challenge (WRC) is coming to Pinellas County. The 2013 WRC will mark the first time the prestigious international event will be held in the United States. Clearwater’s Harborview Center and Coachman Park will be transformed into a multi staged disaster site and the public is invited to attend this exciting free event. Firefighters and medical rescuers from all over North America and the world will take part in a week long training event that includes the “World Auto Extrication Challenge” and the “World Trauma Challenge”. Included in the free event will be a water rescue demonstration from the United States Coast Guard and a swift water marine rescue demonstration by units from various local fire departments. A high angle rope rescue and below ground victim evacuation demonstration will be performed by various elite Urban Search & Rescue units from all around the world. By supporting NAVRA and the City of Clearwater’s efforts to host the 2013 World Rescue Challenge you will be helping us save lives. When horrible accidents occur and natural disasters happen, the public can rest assured that the training rescuers learn during the 2013 World Rescue Challenge will be put to good use.
