A woman called 911 and said that her husband went back into the burning home to look for their dog but never came back out.
A man was hospitalized in critical condition after being pulled from a burning home by Whitehall firefighters Wednesday night, according to NewsWorking.

Crews responded to a report of a kitchen fire at 4418 Thebes Turn Road at approximately 6:10 p.m. and were alerted by Lehigh County dispatch that a woman said her husband went back in for their dog but never came back out.

There was heavy smoke showing from the one-story single family home and fire was venting out of the rear kitchen window.

Firefighters stretched out a handline and began extinguishing the blaze.

Crews from Engines 4 and 5 conducted a primary search and found the man inside the home and dragged him out before waiting for an EMS unit to arrive.

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

There was no word on the condition of the dog the man went back in for.

The fire was quickly brought under control.
