A Boston firefighter was arrested Tuesday night after he told a police officer that he planned to kill another officer, according to The Boston Herald.
Firefighter Michael Costello, 60, pleaded not guilty in West Roxbury District Court Wednesday to charges of violating a harassment order, threats to kill and intimidation of a witness.
According to the report, Costello faces similar charges involving an officer in Quincy, which he is due back in court for on Nov. 29.
He has been a member of the Boston Fire Department since 1997 and works out of Ladder 15.
"He was arrested, but that's all. He has not been indicted," department spokesman Steve MacDonald told the newspaper. "We’re aware of the situation, and our personnel department is monitoring it."
Costello was scheduled to work Wednesday, but did not show up due to his arrest and is considered absent without leave and will not be paid.
The department has not planned any disciplinary action against him relating to the charges as of yet.
