Body Discovered at Virginia House Fire

-- Nov. 09--HOPEWELL, Va. -- Hopewell authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Wednesday during a house fire. Hopewell firefighters were called at 11:15 a.m. to a report of a house fire in the 200 block of South 11th Street. As the blaze was being extinguished, firefighters discovered the body of a man inside, said Hopewell fire Capt. David Warren.

Nov. 09--HOPEWELL, Va. -- Hopewell authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Wednesday during a house fire.

Hopewell firefighters were called at 11:15 a.m. to a report of a house fire in the 200 block of South 11th Street. As the blaze was being extinguished, firefighters discovered the body of a man inside, said Hopewell fire Capt. David Warren.

The remains of the man, 61, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the state medical examiner's office for positive identification and determination of cause of death. Warren said the man is believed to have been the sole occupant of the small, wood-frame rancher.

Hopewell police investigators were also called to the scene and are conducting a joint investigation with the Hopewell Bureau of Fire. Warren said the fire appears to be accidental.
