HOUSTON --
A Houston man was rescued from a fire in his northwest Houston apartment.
Firefighters were called to a blaze at the complex at 5801 N. Houston Rosslyn Road at Antoine at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Flames were shooting from a downstairs unit and through a window when they arrived, officials said.
Fire officials said the resident was trying to escape from his apartment, but passed out near his front door. Firefighters pulled him to safety and the resident was treated for smoke inhalation.
The man told investigators that he saw smoke pouring from his kitchen when he walked out of his bedroom.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
One apartment was damaged by the fire. The unit upstairs was damaged by smoke.
