Five N.J. Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze

Five Patterson firefighters were injured in a two-alarm fire that damaged two homes Tuesday afternoon, according to The Record. The unidentified firefighters were treated at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Crews responded to the fire at the three-story building at 116 Sherman Avenue at approximately 2:50 p.m. Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Vander Voort said the fire appeared to have started toward the rear of the structure’s top floor.

Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Vander Voort said the fire appeared to have started toward the rear of the structure’s top floor.

All three floors were heavily damaged and the second and third floors of a neighboring home also sustained damage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
