CYPRESS, Calif. -- Good Samaritans are being credited with helping a family escape an overnight house fire in Cypress.
The fire broke out after midnight and quickly engulfed the home in the 5000 block of Citation Avenue.
Firefighters say it appears the blaze started in the attic and quickly spread to the sunroom and garage. A propane tank reportedly exploded in the fire.
Two young men, fearing a gas line explosion, sprang into action and helped family members find safety.
Homeowner Jonnard Albayalde says he was at work when he found out about the fire. He was thankful for the Good Samaritans who helped his family.
"At least my family is safe. We don't really care about the material things. It's replaceable, but family is not," Albayalde told KTLA.
The family just moved into the home a year ago and were in the midst of remodeling. It's believed the house may be considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Albayade says his family will be staying at a relative's house.
