California Firefighter Injured Battling Brush Fire

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- A firefighter was injured as crews worked to extinguish a fast moving brush fire that burned near U.C. Riverside Sunday. It started around 3 p.m. Sunday ear Central Avenue and Interstate 215 on the border of Riverside and Moreno Valley. About one hundred firefighters and two air tankers are battling the fire, which burned about 35 acres before it was fully contained.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- A firefighter was injured as crews worked to extinguish a fast moving brush fire that burned near U.C. Riverside Sunday.

It started around 3 p.m. Sunday ear Central Avenue and Interstate 215 on the border of Riverside and Moreno Valley.

About one hundred firefighters and two air tankers are battling the fire, which burned about 35 acres before it was fully contained.

No structures were threatened, but a firefighter suffered a minor leg injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

California Highway Patrol is also on the scene assisting with traffic control.
