BALTIMORE, Md. --

Baltimore City fire officials said three people died in a three-alarm fire early Thursday morning.

The blaze broke out in a house in the middle of a pack of rowhomes at about 1:30 a.m. in the 600 block of South Pulaski Street in southwest Baltimore.

Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright said the fire engulfed several two-story brick rowhouses, damaging 11 on that block.

Fire officials initially got reports that three people were trapped. Once inside one of the homes, they found the bodies of one adult and two children, Cartwright said.

The victims haven't been identified yet.

A cadaver dog is currently searching for a possible fourth victim, 11 News reporter Jennifer Franciotti said.

Witnesses said the scene was scary.

"We ran up on the porches and were kicking in doors, jumping over railings trying to get people out. I ran in the house and got a couple of people out. It was crazy. The fire just spread so fast," said witness Carissa Jessop.

"Stuff was just falling off the porches. It was wild. It was very emotional," said resident Janet Celendeni.

Arson and fire investigators are at the scene working to find a cause.
