SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Wis. --
Residents of the village of Adell in Sheboygan County are being allowed to return to their homes following a fire at a co-op plant.
Firefighters from at least 15 agencies battled the fire at the Adell Co-Op on Main Street early Wednesday morning. Sheriff's Capt. Dave Adams said a series of explosions were heard around 3 a.m.. He said the plant wasn't staffed when the fire broke out.
Adell Fire Chief Will Schneiderwent said the evacuation of the village, which has about 500 residents, was ordered because of chemicals that are in the plant.
He said that one firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was taken to a local hospital.
