Fire hit a Johnson County station early Thursday morning, severely damaging the structure and three department vehicles inside, according to The Johnson City Press.

Approximately six departments responded to fire after receiving the cal around 5 a.m.

The three-bay Second District Volunteer Fire Department firehouse is located on Rhea Road in Mountain City, just off U.S. Highway 421.

There were no injuries reported in the fire.

"Right now, they think the cause was a short circuit in one of the trucks," Johnson County Emergency Management Agency Director Jason Blevins said.

A fire engine, tanker and brush truck were all inside the station at the time of the blaze.

Blevins said it appears at least two of the trucks were destroyed. Some of the firefighters' personal gear that had been stored in the station was also damaged or destroyed.

The department has another station and trucks on the other side of the city.

Blevins said that the department has a good insurance policy and expects everything will eventually be back up and running.
