PASADENA, Texas --
The Pasadena Fire Department was trying to putting out a fire of its own Friday, but the fire chief said it's impossible to keep nude photos taken at a Pasadena fire station from spreading. The pictures show a woman wearing nothing but a fireman's jacket, posing next to a Pasadena fire truck.
Chief Lanny Armstrong told KPRC Local 2 investigator Amy Davis that the pictures first surfaced three years ago.
An investigation revealed the woman in the shots was the wife of a volunteer firefighter. Armstrong said the volunteer took the pictures inside a fire station.
"He was somewhat embarrassed, as he well should be," said Armstrong. "And once we found out who it was, they were asked to remove themselves from the department."
The firefighter was removed and the pictures were, too, or so Armstrong thought.
"Through downloading and the way the Internet works, once they're there, it would be virtually impossible for us to find every single picture that's out there on the Internet," he told Davis.
The fire marshal investigated to find out if the firefighter could be charged with a crime, but nothing came of it.
"Because he had access to the station, there were really no legal boundaries that he crossed," said Armstrong. "Obviously there were some moral and ethical boundaries that were crossed."
Since the incident, Armstrong said they have installed video surveillance cameras in all nine Pasadena fire stations.
