Worker Rescued From Platform at Miami Airport

MIAMI -- Firefighters rescued a worker who was trapped 30 feet above the ground on a platform that malfunctioned on the side of a large tank at Miami International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. Officials said the worker was pressure-cleaning a fuel tank at the airport's fuel farm. When he tried to lower the platform that raised him near the top of the tank, it malfunctioned and got stuck, officials said. The worker was trapped on the platform.

Firefighters rescued a worker who was trapped 30 feet above the ground on a platform that malfunctioned on the side of a large tank at Miami International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said the worker was pressure-cleaning a fuel tank at the airport's fuel farm. When he tried to lower the platform that raised him near the top of the tank, it malfunctioned and got stuck, officials said.

The worker was trapped on the platform.

Miami-Dade firefighters used a cherry-picker on one of their fire trucks to safely lower the man to the ground.
