FORT DODGE, Iowa --

A paperwork problem that left a new $288,000 fire truck parked in the garage has been fixed, officials said Tuesday.

Fort Dodge Fire Chief David Luers told KCCI.com on Tuesday that the truck is back in service and the title issue between the manufacture and DOT has been resolved.

Luers said the manufacturer, Toyne Inc., of Breda, paid the Iowa Department of Transportation a $70 franchise fee. Luers said the President of Toyne, Mike Schwabe, "went above and beyond to resolve the issue for us."

The problem started when the Department of Transportation declined to issue a ''clear title'' for the rescue pumper delivered in April. That meant the city could not get the truck covered by insurance.

Firefighters had to temporarily use one of their old trucks until the issue could be fixed.
