D.C. firefighters rescued more than a dozen people from the top floors of an apartment building after a blaze broke out in one of the units Monday night, according to The Washington Post.
Crews responded to the fire in the 200 block of Upshur Street Northwest to find the third floor of the building engulfed in flames.
Several residents were hanging out of windows calling for help, department spokesman Pete Piringer told the newspaper.
Some of the residents were brought down ladders but no serious injuries were reported.
A woman and a child were taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
