Fire Destroys Pennsylvania Bowling Alley

STRASBURG, Pa. -- Fire destroyed a bowling alley in Strasburg, Lancaster County, on Wednesday night. The blaze started just before 9 p.m. and flames quickly engulfed the Garden Spot Bowling Center. Firefighters said when they arrived, flames were shooting out the front door. About 30 people who were inside at the time got out safely. People who lived nearby could see the flames from their houses.

Fire destroyed a bowling alley in Strasburg, Lancaster County, on Wednesday night.

The blaze started just before 9 p.m. and flames quickly engulfed the Garden Spot Bowling Center.

Firefighters said when they arrived, flames were shooting out the front door.

About 30 people who were inside at the time got out safely.

People who lived nearby could see the flames from their houses.

"All of a sudden you heard a bang in the distance and it's very quiet down here so we knew something was up. So, I had my fiance look out the windows and all you saw was the flames shooting and we took some pictures," Jasmine Irizarry said.

Firefighters said part of the roof collapsed. There's no word on a cause.

The Columbia Bowl and Pinchasers Lounge in West Hempfield Township was destroyed by fire last month.
