KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

A Kansas City fire battalion chief's SUV was involved in a collision as it responded to a house fire call in the 8800 block of Lane Avenue on Monday morning.

A Chevrolet Impala hit the Ford Explorer and a black SUV at 87th Street and James A. Reed Road about 8:40 a.m.

Police said the battalion chief's SUV was traveling east on 87th Street with its lights and sirens activated when it was struck by the Impala, which was traveling south on James A. Reed Road. Police said the force of the collision pushed the SUV into a black SUV that was stopped at the light.

Kansas City Fire Department spokesman Joe Vitale said a woman in the Impala went to a hospital with minor injuries.

Fire crews were able to respond to the house fire and put out a fire in the home's garage. No one was hurt in the house fire.
