The St. Paul Fire Department headquarters was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a "suspicious" package was brought there by a maintenance worker.

The bomb squad investigated, and determined the items included a pair of stretch pants and three wax candles, according to the Pioneer Press.

A worker found the things while clearing flood debris from a park, and delivered them to the fire department, about a mile away, the newspaper reported.

About a dozen employees were at fire headquarters at the time and were evacuated while the package was investigated, Zaccard said. The bomb squad removed the package from the scene about 2:10 p.m.
