Lt. Gary Moore was part of the crew that responded to a fire on Arbury Court at approximately 1:30 a.m. on the city's northeast side.

As firefighter battled the flames, they were ordered out of the structure, but Moore became trapped in an upstairs bedroom.

"They ordered us out, so I ordered my crew out. I had them go out before me and I was following them out. The hose pinned me against a table or a wall or something and I couldn't move. The flames hit and I was entrapped," he told the news station.

"My face was burning. I was just screaming and my crew came in and got me out."

Moore was transported to OSU Medical Center where he was treated for second- and third-degree burns and was soon released.

He returned to the scene of the fire to thank his fellow firefighters for saving him.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

A couple inside the house was sleeping when the fire started, but were luckily awakened by smoke detectors and escaped in time.
