CHANDLER, Ariz. --

A woman saw her toast was burning, panicked and jumped off her balcony, fracturing a leg, according to Chandler fire officials.

She was screaming, "I'm trapped," a firefighter reported. Fire units responded to the fire at 800 N. Federal St., near Ray Road and Loop 101 around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Rescue workers said they are not sure why the woman did not try to get out by the front door of her Chandler apartment, or if it was possible.

Firefighters said they took the toaster outside and aired it out. Nothing other than the toast was on fire, officials said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Helicopter news footage showed one person with a possible leg or ankle injury loaded into an ambulance to be taken to a hospital.
