Sacramento Firefighter Hospitalized After Fall

A Sacramento, Calif. firefighter was injured Saturday night in a fall at the scene of a house fire.

A Sacramento, Calif. firefighter was injured Saturday night in a fall at the scene of a house fire.

Crews responded to the single-story home approximately 9:10 p.m., and in the course of conducting fire suppression and ventilation activities, Sacramento City Fire Captain Gene Dibble fell from the roof, according to a department press release.

Dibble suffered significant back injuries including a fracture to his lower lumbar spine, the department reports, and is currently hospitalized at University of Davis Medical Center.

Dibble is a twenty-four year veteran of the Sacramento Fire Department and has been a captain since December 2002.
