A retired FDNY firefighter whose house burned down last year was announced as a winner of the $122 million Powerball jackpot on Friday, according to The Daily Mail.

Stephen Kirwan, 68, opted to take a lump payment of more than $61 million, which is $40.4 million after taxes.

Kirwan and his wife, Catherine, moved to Purling, N.Y. in 1987 after he served for 24 years with the FDNY.

Their home on Bailey Road burned down last winter and he said some of the winnings will go to rebuild it.

"It still hasn't sunk in," Kirwan said at a press conference. "I guess I got a lifetime of luck all at once."

He has no definitive plans for how much of the money will be spent, but he said he wants to treat his family to a cruise.
