Firefighter Greg Barnas suffered a minor burn to his arm after his son, Kevin, had fallen down basement stairs while battling the two-alarm electrical blaze.

Barnas was treated at the scene, while his son was checked out by paramedics but was uninjured.

Crews responded to the fire on Armm Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m. to find the home engulfed in flames.

"It pretty much doesn’t get any worse," Fire Chief Charles Gardella told the newspaper. "When we got there the house was fully involved."

At least two civilians on the second floor who tried to escape by moving to the roof were rescued by police officers by ladder and a mother, father and baby who lived on the first floor were able to escape on their own.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
