Conn. Man Pulled From Burning Home Arrested

EAST HAVEN, Conn. -- The East Haven man pulled from his burning home on Monday has been arrested on arson charges. James Carangelo was pulled out of his second floor window Monday morning by firefighters. He was rushed to a local hospital, but appeared in court facing arson and other charges for lighting the fire on Friday. Carangelo's home was engulfed in flames when East Haven fire crews arrived on scene on Warner Road. Fire officials rescued Carangelo and his dog.

EAST HAVEN, Conn. --

The East Haven man pulled from his burning home on Monday has been arrested on arson charges.

James Carangelo was pulled out of his second floor window Monday morning by firefighters.

He was rushed to a local hospital, but appeared in court facing arson and other charges for lighting the fire on Friday.

Carangelo's home was engulfed in flames when East Haven fire crews arrived on scene on Warner Road.

Fire officials rescued Carangelo and his dog.

Police later learned the dog had been shot in the face.

Fire officials immediately called the fire arson and police were already investigating Carengelo for a domestic violence incident involving his estranged wife.

The couple is in the middle of a divorce with child custody issues with their two daughters.

On Friday morning police arrested Carengelo on a warrant charging him with arson and shooting his dog, as well as the domestic incident.
