Three people were injured following a crash that ignited a fuel tanker and shutdown a portion of a freeway near downtown Dallas early this morning, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The incident occurred when an eastbound sedan changing lanes struck another tractor trailer, causing it to veer into the tanker at approximately 1:30 a.m.on Interstate 30 west of the city.

The tanker crashed into a concrete wall dividing the main lanes from the HOV lane and the resulting fire burned it down to its frame , the report said.

The man driving the fuel tanker and two women in the car were transported to Dallas Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the crash, crews were working to sop up 7,800 gallon of gasoline and about 950 gallons of diesel, while trying to prevent any more of it from spilling into a nearby creek.

"We don't know exactly how much got into the creek," Dallas-Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Evans told the newspaper.

The highway's westbound lanes were reopened by 6:30 a.m. and all but one eastbound lane was reopened by 9:30 a.m.
