HOUSTON --

A woman was burned when her Galleria-area townhome caught fire.

Houston firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at the complex on Post Oak Park near San Felipe Street at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

About 100 firefighters battled the blaze that started in a 72-year-old woman's home.

The woman was able to escape from the inferno on her own, but she suffered smoke inhalation and second-degree burns. She was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment.

Neighbors were able to rescue the woman's dog.

Firefighters said they had to get out of the home when the roof and third floor collapsed.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the flames. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Crews said they also had to battle bullets during the fire because about 30 rounds of ammunition ignited.

The 72-year-old woman's home was destroyed and the home next door sustained fire, smoke and water damage, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
