The passenger compartment on Engine 522 was destroyed by the flames that luckily avoided the fuel line.
The station's high roof also played a part in lessening the damage as it kept the flames heading upward and away from other apparatus.
There's no other obvious damage to the structure other than to the roof, but the station will be closed at least a week to assess the condition of the building and investigate the incident, according to the report.
Officials believe hot embers and debris from a field fire got stuck in the engine and were carried back to the station.
"We'll be anxious to see what kind of learning experience we get out of this and move on," Chief Dale Borland told the news station.
"Our goal is to get the station back up into its running order as it ought to be and to give this community that reassurance that its here. We're not going anywhere."
With the Alvadore station out of service, neighboring stations will cover its calls.
