State police in Somerset County have arrested a volunteer firefighter and charged him with setting a fire in Confluence Borough.
Charles Whipkey, 34, was arrested after investigators determined he intentionally set a fire at 540 Hughart Street.
Whipkey is a member of the Confluence Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire was ruled incendiary in nature and caused $60,000 in property damage.

Whipkey was arraigned and his bond was set at $20,000. He failed to post bond and was placed in the Somerset County Jail.
