Carbon Monoxide Kills Two in Maryland Home

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. -- Fire officials in Baltimore County said a carbon monoxide leak Sunday inside a single family home has killed two people and sickened at least eleven others in what commanders are calling a mass casualty incident. Crews were called at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday to the 4100 block of Colby Road for a report of fatalities. Eight people who were sickened and three officers, who were overcome when they entered the home have been taken to local hospitals.

Fire officials in Baltimore County said a carbon monoxide leak Sunday inside a single family home has killed two people and sickened at least eleven others in what commanders are calling a mass casualty incident.

Crews were called at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday to the 4100 block of Colby Road for a report of fatalities.

Eight people who were sickened and three officers, who were overcome when they entered the home have been taken to local hospitals.

Firefighters reported CO levels of 400 ppm in the home.

Preliminary information indicates that 10 people were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma hyperbaric unit.

Officials have not released any additional information.
