CALDWELL CO., N.C.

Firefighters rescued a Lenoir family after heavy rains flooded a creek near their home Tuesday night.
Only Eyewitness News was there when firefighters responded to a home on Pennell Street in Lenoir, which is in Caldwell County.
The lower creek area spilled over its banks during the storm that dumped heavy rain on much of the area Tuesday.
"It had been raining for a while, and I saw it coming up over the creek and looked like it was bad for me," said Josh Fowler.
Water surrounded the house and began flooding the basement. At one point, the rain water was waist-deep.
Firefighters had to use a ladder truck to rescue the family.
Everyone, including the children, managed to get out of the home by crawling across the ladder to dry land.
Fowler said he has renter's insurance that should cover the flood damage.
