MADISON COUNTY, Miss. --

A memorial for a fallen Madison County firefighter has hit a roadblock.

The memorial was going to be made up of 12 engraved stones, but five of the stones have been stolen, county officials said.

The stones were to commemorate Gluckstadt Volunteer Firefighter Adam Weisenberger. In 2002, the 19-year-old was one of the first to respond to a car crash on Interstate 55. He died after being struck by two vehicles.

Weisenberger's father, Bill, said he's bothered by the stolen stones.

"It's hurtful to all of us because we're wanting to honor Adam's memory the best we can, but it just kind of throws a kink in our plans," Bill Weisenberger said.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department is asking whoever has the stones to return them.
