Fire Burns Ore. American Legion

The morning of July 4 at 12:22 a.m. the Albany, Ore. Fire Department responded to a fire at 1215 SE Pacific Blvd., the American Legion Post 10.   According to PIO Wanda Omdahl, firefighters found flames showing from the building. At 12:31 a.m. a second alarm was required and at 1:21 a.m., that was moved to a third alarm. There were 11 fire department vehicles and approximately 42 firefighters on the scene.

The morning of July 4 at 12:22 a.m. the Albany, Ore. Fire Department responded to a fire at 1215 SE Pacific Blvd., the American Legion Post 10.According to PIO Wanda Omdahl, firefighters found flames showing from the building. At 12:31 a.m. a second alarm was required and at 1:21 a.m., that was moved to a third alarm. There were 11 fire department vehicles and approximately 42 firefighters on the scene. Firefighters for Scio, Lebanon, Corvallis, Philomath and Jefferson responded.There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The bartender reported leaving the American Legion at 10:00 p.m. before the fire, and said there was no one in the building at that time. The American Legion Post 10 is a club that is owned by its members and they do have insurance, Omdahl said. There are approximately 1,800 members and there are about 100-150 people who patronize the American Legion during any given week. The members had several events planned to celebrate this holiday, which will most likely have to be canceled.
