A Brookline ladder truck is out of commission after a brief electrical fire damaged the underside of the vehicle last night, according to The Brookline Patch.

The truck was parked inside the Brookline Village Fire Station and the flames were quickly doused by firefighter who saw the smoke coming from under the vehicle, Fire Chief Peter Skerry told the publication.

It took less than two gallons of water to put out the fire, but the truck was left with "substantial damage."

The fire occurred in a 12-year-old spare ladder truck that had been in use for the last two weeks while another vehicle was in for service.

The truck is being evaluated at a dealership in Walpole.
