Improper disposal of used fireworks is blamed for sparking a fire that destroyed a Virginia house late Thursday night.

Improper disposal of used fireworks is blamed for sparking a fire that destroyed a Virginia house late Thursday night.

Fairfax County firefighters encountered heavy fire in the front of the three-story home. The blaze quickly spread, and was quickly through the roof, a fire department spokesman said.

Investigators determined that the recently used fireworks were on the front porch.

Crews brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes.

The six occupants of the house escaped without injury.
