A standby for an Australian crew at a fireworks event turned tragic as a six-year-old boy was run over by a fire truck.
Police say he was struck about 8:30 p.m. at Tipperary Station by a fire truck that was being parked in readiness for the possibility of blazes sparked by fireworks during last night's Territory Day celebrations, according to ABCNews.net.
Medical staff from the Adelaide River health clinic went to the accident scene and arranged for the boy to be taken to Darwin for treatment.
The boy is in intensive care at Royal Darwin Hospital, reports indicated.
