Firefighters said they found two people dead inside a burned home in Dunwoody on Thursday.

Police continue to investigate after two people were found dead inside a burned DeKalb County home.

Firefighters said they found two people dead inside a Peeler Road home in Dunwoody on Thursday.

“I took one step in there and I couldn’t breathe,” said witness Jimmy Kincaid.

Investigators took evidence from the scene to the crime lab and are waiting for autopsy results as they try to figure out if the victims died in the fire or beforehand.

“With any death, we are going to treat it suspiciously,” said Sgt. Mike Carlson of the Dunwoody Police Department.

Officials have not officially identified the victims, but relatives said they believe they are an 81-year-old man and his wife.
