SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif.
--
A man says his cat saved his life early Tuesday by alerting him to a townhouse fire in the Foothill Farms area of Sacramento County.
The resident said his cat, Honey, hopped on his head to wake him up.
The blaze, which was reported shortly before 4 a.m., occurred at 5640 Vernor Oak Court. One two-story unit was destroyed.
Oily rags in a pickup truck may have played a role in the blaze, officials said.
Firefighters acted quickly to knock down the flames and keep them from spreading to other nearby townhomes.
