Thousands turned out to show support for to several injured Detroit firefighters Friday night.

The event was held at the Rooster Tail on the citys east side.

People who attended the fundraiser opened their heart and their pocketbook for the four firefighters who were critically injured while fighting an arson at a commercial building back in August. Theyre having a tough time right now, said Detroit firefighter Jeffrey Urbas. Theyre blown away by the support.

Brian Baulch, 31, was one of the firefighters who suffered severe injures battling the arson. He told Local 4 the event was very touching. The guys did a phenomenal job, everything is beautiful.

Baulch said he doesnt remember the fire that sent him to the hospital. When the roof collapsed on him during the fire, Baulch broke his feet, six ribs, his neck, pelvis, and nose. Im very thankful to be alive and then to see everyone support us and be around is very nice.

The event raised thousands of dollars for the injured firefighters and their families.

One person is in custody for the arson and faces up to forty years in prison if convicted.
