Two Die in Fiery Texas 18-Wheeler Crash

LYTLE, Texas -- An 18-wheeler rear-ended a mobile crane at about 3 p.m. Friday, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said. The collision ruptured the gas tank in the semi, sparking a fire that consumed the big rig and killing both its driver and passenger. The driver of the crane was injured and was taken to an area hospital.

An 18-wheeler rear-ended a mobile crane at about 3 p.m. Friday, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

The collision ruptured the gas tank in the semi, sparking a fire that consumed the big rig and killing both its driver and passenger.

The driver of the crane was injured and was taken to an area hospital.

The accident occurred in the Northbound lanes of Interstate 35, near mile marker 131, outside of Lytle. Both lanes of the Interstate were shut down for about an hour as the wreck was cleared.
