Four Viejas firefighters were injured after a suspected drunk driver pulled in front of their engine yesterday, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
Yesenia Mitra, 25, was exiting a casino parking lot at approximately 5:45 a.m. onto Willows Road east when she hit by the oncoming engine.
CHP Officer Brian Pennings told the newspaper that the woman pulled directly out in front of the engine that had its emergency lights activated.
The firefighters were responding to a medical call at the casino and suffered only minor injuries. Mitra suffered a broken wrist and was hospitalized. When she is released, Pennings said she will be booked on felony charges of driving under the influence.
The engine's axle was ripped off in the collision and it was sent it into a utility pole before knocking it down.
